Historical Re-Enactment War of 1812

This is a photo of a War of 1812 event that the Norfolk Militia Heritage Regiment Re-enactment Group took part in. These living history lessons are a great way to teach kids about our past, and the horrors of battle in my opinion.

Please note that this entry is for both the Tuesday, and Wednesday editions of WW. Thank you for stopping by!

I do enjoy re-enactments. The Norfolk Militia vertainly gave the Americans a few bloody noses in the war of 1812! Happy WW

I have always wanted to watch something like this. For awhile I did some sewing for participants and historical society members. They'd give me an old photo or a drawing of what they wanted and I had to come up with a design and then make it. Challenging but fun. This was in Virginia? I used to live there, miss it a lot.

I came across your blog through blogexplosion.com I enjoyed visiting!

Hi,

I couldn't find a place to email you directly with a question, so I will post it here in a comment...

Are you aware of any groups/sites in the eastern half of Canada (Ontario-Nova Scotia/Newfoundland)
that do reenactments with blackpowder? An arquebus for example. Thanks!

KP Mama -> Unfortunately I do not know of any groups in Nova Scotia or Newfoundland. I'm certain something might exist. Have you tried a Google search? Thanks for the visit :)

As an 1812er mesself, I don't know of any groups in Nova Scotia doing that era... and as for matchlock weapons, I don't know... but a little bit of "Googling" and I turned up this...
